Dear Dr. Reza Moridi,

I, as an Iranian - Canadian, who is living in Richmond Hill, am proud of Canada's Liberal party at all levels, also I am proud of you as our  MPP in lovely Richmond Hill area. I am sure that you know about Kavoos Soofi, I know him in person, he is very kind and responsible person, his refugee status was not granted, due to the Immigration Canada's decision, and he is waiting to be deported to IRAN on Feb. 7/2012.

You know what would happen to the person who is deporting to IRAN by this way!! you know better than your colleagues and members of Parliament what is going on in IRAN.. no need to point them out. I am hundred percent sure that you did all your best so far, and you will do more to help him to stay here in Canada among us, his friends and family, in order to have more contributions towards values of our Lovely Province and our Great Country "CANADA" .   As your supporter, I ask you to step forward and let everybody knows in Canada's  political parties, what would happen to Kavoos if Immigration Canada deport him to IRAN, not only as member of Province Parliament, but also as a human being who himself will be in a same situation facing tortures, jail and even death if for any reason goes to IRAN while doing some activities for IRAN Freedom and Democracy.

Kavoos supporters, including me, were at Dundas Square yesterday, thanks CBC news the National which provided some coverage for him to bring his situation to the attention of more people and decision makers. I invite you to check and review CBC News coverage if you didn't have a chance to watch it so far, then tell everybody what would really happen to Kavoos if he be deported to IRAN.  His lawyer needs to postpone his deportation in order to proceed his reassessment one more time.

I respect you very much and count on you and Liberal Party to make this happen

Your Excellency, General Ban Ki-moon

My name is Kiomars Soofi, a citizen of Canada. I am writing to draw your attention to the case of my brother, Kavoos Soofi, who has been ordered to be deported to Iran on Feb 07, 2012, an action, which would certainly put his life at great risk and danger.

On January 11, 2012, Kavoos Soofi appeared before the Immigration Office of Canada in Toronto to receive their decision with respect to his refugee application for protection under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Aid. His application was rejected. The official's initial bail request was changed later that day to `detention until deportation'. Kavoos was arrested and since then has been detained by Immigration Canada where he will remain until his date of deportation back to Iran on Feb. 07, 2012. In protest of inhumane behavior of Immigration office of Canada, since Tuesday, January 24, 2012, Kavoos has been on a hunger strike.

Kavoos came to Canada from Iran in March 2004. He chose to come to Canada in pursuit of a dignified and just life, one where his worth as a member of the society is respected. During this time, Kavoos has completely rebuilt his life within Canadian society. Kavoos has been quite active publicly advocating for human rights in Iran. His constant political activities since the 2009 Iranian Presidential Election have been projected in different social networks and webpages and broadcasted by Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) national TV dated Jan 28, 2012, which can be found here.

Not only does Kavoos face returning to a country in which he has not lived for nearly a decade, and where he no longer has his immediate family or the support network that provides, but Immigration Canada seems to see no problem in sending him back to place with a highly questionable human rights record. Having blatantly denounced the Iranian government, I am seriously concerned for his safety upon his deportation to Iran.

Honorable General Ban Ki-moon, since the UN is committed to ensuring that people being removed from the countries they have applied for refugee, are not sent to a country where they would be in danger or at risk of persecution, we humbly request your support in our plea to the government of Canada. We would greatly appreciate with heartfelt gratitude any support that you are able to offer us at this time as Feb. 7, 2012 leaves us with little time to act. A copy of petition, supporting Kavoos is also available in his web site(www.kavoos.org).

Thank you for taking the time to lend your ear to this case.

Yours Sincerely,
Kiomars Soofi

Subject: Kavoos Soofi's Deportation case from Toronto to Iran, a desperate plea!
(Attention:Mr. Deljou Abadi)
Date: Tue, 31 Jan 2012 09:31:58 +0000

Hi Mr. Abadi,

I visited your site and indeed it is a worth while cause. I hope in near future we can be of help to your cause and organizatin. The reason I am writing you this letter is to turn you attention to a deportation case currently underway in Toronto Canada. The name of the deportee is Kavoos Soofi. He is on a 7 day long hunger strike and he is simply a student who came to canada from Iran and wanted to stay and asked for refugee status. On Jan 11th 2012 he went before an immigration judge to ask for another extension and he was denied and kept in custody of Canadian Immigration ever since. He is scheduled to be deported back to Iran on Feb 7th 2012.

Please visit his site and help rally support for him. Kavoos is an extremely kind, truthful and insightful person. He has been somewhat active during the 2009/2010 Green movement and has had many posts in Facebook and if deported to Iran his life may be in jeopardy. His parents are in US and they are Green card holders. His sister is a US Citizen. His mother already started the petitioning process for a Green card for him. He is my brother in law. He has a brother in Toronto who is a Citizen there.

All Kavoos's immediate family are outside of Iran. The reason I am writing you this letter is to find out if there are any venues that Kavoos can use to come to US under some sort of Humanitarian Parole or section of the law? He has had a lot of publicity in Canada, CBC News in Toronto ran a clip on him. Over 1500 hundred people so far have signed his petition. A lot of people left testimonies' on his Yahoo support group about his character, demeanor and honesty. Could you please help us to help him find a way to stay? Any UN clause or quotas that can be invoked to suspend his deportation? Is there any US laws that can be used to bring him over to the US side?

I appreciate any help, suggestion or insight that you can provide.

Sincerely,
Alex Biklou and Kathy Soufi

Dear Sir or Madam

This email is being sent on behalf of Kavoos Soofi, an Iranian national who has lived in Toronto for many years and is now being deported back to Iran. Mr. Soofi is on his 8th day of fasting to protest his deportation back to Iran.

Is it possible for your organization, who has been given the responsibility of fighting discrimination, to help this human being? Mr. Soofi has been a model citizen, working and taking care of his family, and has never created any problem in Toronto. Now that he is requesting to remain in Canada, why is the government refusing this human and justifiable request? Is Canada that small that it cannot find space for a good man and show compassion and justice to one man?

How is it possible that in this day and age where justice and freedom should be the right of human citizen there are countries that are actually taking away this freedom and justice? The Canadian government is doing exactly this. Mr. Soofi has the right to remain in Canada, If he is deported he will surely face prison and possibly even worse treatments. He has requested asylum from the Canadia government and there is absolutely no reason why he cannot be granted this request. Mr. Soofi's families are all in Canada. He has no immediate relatives in Iran. Mr. Soofi has spoken out against injustice and lack of freedom that Iran is now practicing. But this is no reason for the Canadian Immigration to refuse his claim for refugee status in Canada.

Please try to study this case, Please try to be involved and try to see the discrimination that is being played here against Mr. Soofi.

I hope to hear from you soon. I hope that justice is shown to Mr.Soofi who deserves to become a Canadian citizen and should not be returned to a country that will surely imprison him and possibly demonstrate even worse treatment. Canada is big country and Mr. Soofi has been a model human being while living in Toronto.. I hope that the Canadian government will show its compassion towards Mr., kavoos Soofi.

Sincerely,
Anna M. Mancini New York

Subject: Urgent - Pending Deportation of Kavoos Soofi

Dear Uzma Shakir,
Director Equity, Diversity and Human Rights Office,

Please allow me to take a moment of your time for an urgent matter.
On January 11, 2012, my friend Mr. Kavoos Soofi appeared before the Immigration Office to receive the decision about his refugee application for protection under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Aid. His application was rejected. The judge instructed Kavoos to apply for his Iranian passport and leave Canada . Kavoos, upon expressing his concern for his safety if he is deported to Iran( Kavoos has been active in pro-democracy movements there), the judge had him arrested immediately.

There are many, many details following the outright detainment of Kavoos. They are inhumane and unworthy of what we as Canadian citizens expect from our country and the stewards of her laws.   This is the 7th. day of Kavoos's Hunger strike. His deportation date is set for Feb.07, 2012.   His friends and family are requesting your immediate assistance.

A campaign has been launched against the unfair and inhumane treatment of our government officers. We don't want to break or change the law.  We don't claim any special privileges for Kavoos. We ask for humane treatment and for Canadian democratic justice to prevail.   Kavoos has been living in Canada for 8 years lawfully with a work permit until 2014; he has a registered firm and has filed income tax each year. He is a loving, compassionate person, kind and gentle. He has made a dynamic contribution to our society.  And will continue to do so.

Please, I urge you, to help us find a way for his new lawyer to present his case one more time. Please help us with instituting pure, and true Canadian values and treatment grounded in human respect and dignity. I am seriously concerned for Kavoos's safety upon his return to Iran and question the decision made by Immigration Canada to deport him. My deepest gratitude to you for any support that you are able to offer Mr. Kavoos Soofi at this time. Feb. 7, 2012 leaves us with little time to act. Mr. Keeney,

I am a French citizen, originally coming from an Eastern European country. Knowing from inside the mentality of totalitarian regime supporters I cannot help reacting vehemently with aversion to this decision of deportation of the Iranian citizen Kavoos. I cannot believe that such a developped, civilized and respectful state as Canada can commit an act of deportation of a citizen who dared express openly his opposition to a totalitarian regime. There is no doubt that this decision is a death sentence and it would be a blemish forever on the reputation of the great country that you represent. I am sure you can still revise it and convince your political partners to do it.

Rigidity has never helped anyone or any state to evolve on a long term basis, rigidity has always been deteriorating for the human nature and this case is far from being an isolated individual destiny, it is a symbol and your actions will mark the collective consciousness for sure -- positively or negatively -- for you to decide. I believe in your common sense and wisdom, I believe in Canada's democratic spirit!
Please do cancel the deportation!

With all my respect,
Veronika Alekova-Mouchard
