Honourable Minister of Citizenship and Immigration Jason Kenney,
We are writing to you in regards to the deportations of Mr. Reza Jalali on March 26, 2012, Mr. Jalaluddin Mahtash on March 31, 2012, and of Mr. Seyed Jamal Hedayati and his son Mr. Seyed Mohammad Hedayati scheduled for the first week of April, 2012, to Iran.
(This part has been removed as it contained private information.)
We believe that the deportation of these individuals, to a country with tragic human rights records, and a system where there is a lack of availability for seeking protection and redress, is a grave mistake. The planned looming execution of Iranian born Canadian resident Mr. Malekpour, is proof of what could happen to refugees deported from Canada.
We are emphasizing on these urgent cases and insist that you order a stop on these deportations. We will follow this letter with a petition of 800+ signatures collected over the course of 3 days at the Iranian Norooz Bazaar at Royalton Hall 8201 Weston Road, Toronto.
We urge that you use your discretion and we urge you to seriously consider a moratorium on deportations to Iran and to grant immigration status to asylum seekers from Iran in Canada while the people of Iran try to build a democratic government for themselves.
Sincerely,
Concerned citizens of Canada |
